Its all gone a bit funny but i am not laughing!

All is not well on Cypress, have managed a couple of days coaching but also spent the last couple of days in the hospital, every time i stood up i fell back over, not ideal for sea kayaking. Doctors reckon its maybe a virus or something else, so not a lot of help there, all they have decided is that i shouldn't be taking there people out on the water, so i am coming home early.

Bit of a shame really as its a fair distance to travel, and its nice surfing in a semi naked state rather than 3 layers and a drysuit. so here are a couple of pictures from my last forage about Skye with Cailean.

and last but not least one for Mike Webb at Rockpool, look Mike how we take care of our boats!

If only

I am spending this week mostly on Cypress, coaching a group from Wales. Thats the good news the bad news is i am having to paddle an Easky all week, its not a bad boat just huge, if only i could have brought something from my toy cupboard.

or all would have been better, the morning start of flat, but by lunchtime the wind is rising and in the afternoon there is a bit of wind driven surf. My Rockpool fleet would cover all evantualities.

On the bright side the water is warm around 24 degrees c rescue practice no problem!

What the f*&k

Just paddling along minding my business, enjoying a lovely day on Loch Leven, when out of nowhere

This is the second one the first was probably somewhere over Fort William before i got the camera off my neck. i could almost feel my insides vibrating as the sound passed overhead.

The Locals

Last week was spent on the Isle of Mull, we spent a day paddling round the wilderness past Mckinnons cave, whilst we were eating lunch who should turn up but -

a Mink, i have met these creatures before and every time i am amazed at how brave they are, an Otter would have run away. as we were watching it  it was scurrying about moving closer

we wondered what was up- then it was gone in to the rocks only to return carrying its dinner

i sure as hell wouldn't have left such a fine fish lying either.

Where does the time go?

It hasn't been as long as my last delay, but never the less longer than i had planned.

I am just back from Mull, one week of family time - highly recommended.

This is one of my favorite views standing at the viewpoint above Dervaig looking over Ardnamurchan point you can just make out the lighthouse flashing!
